EMPLOYER FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How can RideOn work for my company/organization?
RideOn supports the community's economic development by offering rides for work, school, or job-seeking trips. The RideOn app pairs employees with work commute options, and the website provides program details. Program Coordinators are available to assist with additional information and commuting program development.

Am I liable if something happens?
According to Florida Statutes, § 768.091 (2023), employers are not liable for incidents occurring while employees are commuting in a ridesharing arrangement.
The exception to this protection does not apply to vehicles owned or leased by the employer or to acts by employees within the scope of their employment.

I would love to promote/provide smart commuting options, but where do I start?
Visit our CONTACT PAGE and contact your Regional RideOn Program Coordinator. The coordinator can provide marketing materials and offer consulting services to match your needs at no cost.

Will using RideOn cost us anything?
Using RideOn’s app, website, and consulting services will not cost you anything.
Costs may incur if you opt to take advantage of vanpooling services, offering employees commuting incentives, and perks; however, these costs may be minimized through use of the available tax incentives.

What can you tell me about the tax incentives?
Internal Revenue Code Section 132(f) allows employers to provide certain transportation benefits to employees on a tax-free basis. Qualified Transportation Fringe (QTF) rules apply to benefits provided to his/her employees for the employee's personal transportation, such as commuting to and from work.
More information can be found on the IRS website under the section titled “Transportation (Commuting) Benefits”.
