COMMUTER FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How much will it cost to use the RideOn app?
There is no cost to download or use the RideOn application. All the route mapping, ride matching, trip logging, and rewards offerings are completely free of charge.

How do I find or start a carpool?
The best way to start or join a carpool is to talk with friends, neighbors, or coworkers about starting or joining a carpool. You can also use the RideOn app to offer or ask to join a carpool. The app will look for others that have the same destination and schedule and you can reach out within the app to see it’s a good fit for you.

How do I get into a vanpool?
Vanpools are a great solution for larger groups or longer commutes. The best way to learn about existing vanpools would be to check with your employer or fellow employees. Many times they are run through an employer and paid for via a pretax payroll deduction or even employer subsidized in some cases.

Sometimes I need my car with me, so will RideOn
still work for me?
Of course. You have no obligation to ride with your carpool or vanpool every day. We all have busy lives and sometimes having your car is essential, but most find they don’t need it as much as they thought they did.

Does working from home count as a “trip” in the RideOn app
Yes, it does. Anytime you work from home or attend classes remotely you should log it as a trip. Earning rewards points without the commuting hassle or spending money on gas is really awesome.

Why do I need to log my commutes in the RideOn app
Logging your trips in the RideOn app has multiple benefits for you. Every trip you log earns reward points and those points can be exchanged for some pretty nifty stuff. It also qualifies you for any monthly or quarterly special contests offered by RideOn. Remember, you must log your trips in order to use the Emergency Ride Home feature should you ever need it.

What happens if I carpooled to work and have an emergency?
The RideOn program has a safety net feature called Emergency Ride Home (or ERH). It is intended to make sure you can get home should an emergency arise on a day you rode in a carpool, vanpool, or rode a bike for your commute. There are rules and limitations associated with ERH so be sure to check out the rules to learn more.
